It’s been more than a couple of years since you purchased your exhibit. Sure you still like it, but maybe you’re not in love with it like you once were. Or you look around and notice that your exhibit just doesn’t stand apart from the competition like it once did.
Most exhibits will last a company anywhere from three to seven years, but a lot can change during that time, including marketing focus and trade show strategy.
So, you are faced with a decision: should you refurbish your current exhibit or take the plunge and purchase a new one?
Here are a few factors to consider:
Does your current exhibit still fit your needs? Are you able to showcase your products in a manner that best displays their abilities? Are you able to meet with prospective clients in relative privacy, if needed? Do you have the storage space you require?
If you can answer, “yes,” to the questions that are pertinent to you, then refurbishing may be all you need.
What is your marketing strategy in the next few years, and how many times are you likely to drag your exhibit out of storage?
This is where it pays to think about the potential return you could achieve from investing in a new exhibit. If you are only going to use the exhibit a couple of times in the upcoming years, refurbishment is likely the answer.
On the other hand, older exhibits tend to be heavier than newer ones due to the material used to construct them. If you are incurring heavy shipping and drayage fees, it may be worthwhile to purchase a new display that is lighter in weight.
Does it take forever to get your exhibit ready for the crowds? There is always going to be some set-up time, but messing around with display shelving should not cut into your time that needs to be spent with potential customers.
New exhibits tend to be more efficient and easier to use. This means your time, and the time of your exhibit staff, can be focused on your customers.
Cost to Refurbish vs. Purchase New
What will it take it refurbish your current exhibit? How does that cost compare to buying a new display? You may find that, based on your needs, it is only slightly more money to purchase a new exhibit.
The entire reason to attend an exhibition is to position your brand in front of a receptive audience. Does your current exhibit tell the story of your brand as effectively as possible? If not, what’s missing? This could be the essential question as to whether you need to refurbish or purchase a new exhibit.
